Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) Research
I am actively involved in the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), one of the world’s largest research initiatives on entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial ecosystems.
- Member, GEM Switzerland (2023–present), contributing to data analysis, research publications, and funding proposals within the Swiss GEM team at the School of Management Fribourg
- Quantitative Research using GEM Data, conducting empirical research based on large-scale international datasets, applying: regression analysis, cross-country comparisons, longitudinal analysis of entrepreneurial ecosystems
- Co-Leader, GEM Ukraine (2022–2023), led the establishment and development of the GEM Ukraine project, resulting in the GEM Ukraine National Report 2023/2024.
BISWISS: AI & Business Intelligence Governance
I lead the BISWISS (Business Intelligence Systems in Switzerland) research project, focused on AI and BI governance in Swiss organizations.
The project investigates:
- organizational capabilities for AI and BI adoption
- governance structures and decision-making processes
- trust, transparency, and regulatory constraints
- analytics maturity and its strategic implications
The research is based on in-depth qualitative interviews with Swiss companies, particularly in regulated industries such as finance, energy, and pharmaceuticals.
This work has resulted in multiple conference publications and ongoing journal submissions, with a strong focus on bridging technology, management, and governance.
Business Resilience
This research stream focuses on understanding the foundations of business resilience from a managerial perspective, exploring how firms and ecosystems adapt to different types of crises across countries.
I study resilience in diverse institutional and environmental contexts, including:
- Ukraine – resilience under extreme conditions of war, where firms operate under severe disruption, uncertainty, and resource constraints / Collaboration with Hamburg School of Business Administration (HSBA)
- Switzerland and other developed economies – resilience in response to economic, technological, and systemic crises
A key objective of this research is to identify the core drivers and mechanisms of resilience, including managerial decision-making, strategic adaptation, and organizational capabilities.
